We live in exciting times. Everything seems to be progressing at an exponential rate. Advances in everything from technology, to medicine, to communications are having a profound affect on our daily lives. The structural building components industry, like other industries, has also been experiencing an explosion in recent years. However, we must continue to learn to maintain this pace. The technology is available to help us continue to grow by leaps and bounds, but we must know about it and take advantage of it.
With progress come options. This surge in progress has given us so many options that it is impossible to know which will prepare your business for the future. Knowing the best solutions to your business problems and how to apply them has become more difficult. For an individual business to flourish in this type of environment, sharing ideas with an entire industry is essential.
The Building Component Manufacturers Conference (BCMC) has grown every year because it allows individual businesses to take advantage of the strength of an entire industry. Your business will benefit from the ideas of other component manufacturers, the product solutions offered by suppliers and the educational sessions presented by experienced professionals.
This year, educational sessions will include new ideas on sales and marketing, e-commerce, legislative issues, short interval scheduling and insurance. In addition, a panel of industry experts will be on hand to discuss "The Paperless Process." These seminars are not only intended to improve business today, but to help us meet the challenges of tomorrow.
Come see your friends and make some new ones. We look forward to seeing you and hope that your participation gives your business some Ideas To Build On!
KICKOFF PRESENTATION LARRY WINGET
"STUFF THAT WORKS EVERY SINGLE DAY"
Wednesday October 31 8:00 - 9:00a
LARRY WINGET
Larry Winget is a philosopher of success who just happens to be hilarious. He teaches universal principles that will work for anyone, in any business, at any time. Larry believes that most of us have lives and businesses that are way too complicated and that we take things way too seriously. He also believes that we need to lighten up, take responsibility, be more flexible, stay positive and keep it in perspective. He believes that success and prosperity come from serving others. His high-impact session will challenge you to do more than ever before. Larry's session contains information that can be put to use immediately.
Larry began life on a chicken ranch in Oklahoma. He has driven a book mobile and was one of the first male telephone operators in the Bell System. He has shoveled manure, swept floors, as well as acting as the salesperson, manager and president of his own company. He has experienced incredible business success and total business failure. However, he is proof that you can go belly-up in business without going face-down in failure. This unique perspective has given him insights into the principles necessary to survive and succeed both personally and professionally.
Larry covers the following principles in his presentation:
Success is not hard; in fact, it is profoundly simple. Taking responsibility is the primary ingredient to achieve success. Everything in life gets better when you get better, and nothing gets better until you get better. Flexibility is the key to dealing with customers and each other. We must be flexible with how we do our jobs because how we do our jobs will always be changing. We do what we do in order to serve others well. The better we serve, the more we will be rewarded. Fun and enjoyment must become a way of life and a way of doing business. Stuff is always going to happen so learn to keep what happens in perspective. Success is the result of motive, love, belief, enjoyment and excellence.
Larry Winget is the author of over a dozen books as well as several audio and video series. Larry knows what he is talking about and knows how to communicate it. His material is always fresh and well researched as he reads three books a week to stay current and to increase the knowledge base from which he speaks. Visit his web site at www.larrywinget.com.
Challenge yourself with these concepts during this exciting and uplifting start to BCMC 2001.

"TAKING ADVANTAGE OF YOUR ASSOCIATION'S RESOURCES TO PROTECT AND GROW YOUR BUSINESS"
Wednesday October 31 9:15 - 10:30a (Repeat 10:45a - Noon)
WTCA PUBLICATIONS
As with any association, WTCA's greatest asset for its membership is the work that it does creating policies, industry wide association programs and publications. This is where WTCA adds value and pays for each dues dollar expended. The only sure way to gain value and money back from your association is to be actively involved in understanding the association's activities and projects. The reason for this is that much of the value is in the details, and the details are not easily understood from the outside looking in. Just like driving a new car, many of the features take some getting used to. Within a month you have tried all the features and you have a better understanding of them. Now you can take full advantage of them in ways that will make your driving experience more satisfying and enjoyable.
