2016 Plant Tours
Tuesday, October 18 | 12 – 4 pm
Tindell's, Inc. & Sauter Timber LLC
Maximum Capacity: 100
Length of Tour: 1 hour at each location
BCMC 2016 plant tour participants will enjoy double the fun as this year’s tour travels to two manufacturing facilities in the Knoxville area.
Tindell’s, Inc. began in 1907 as a sawmill business. The company now owns and operates building materials sales and warehousing facilities in Knoxville, Sevierville, Maryville and Cleveland, Tennessee. Other facilities include a truss manufacturing plant, a millwork division, an installed sales division and a commodity center. The tour will focus on Tindell’s truss manufacturing operations.
In 1999, Sauter-Timber LLC became the first wood component joinery service in the U.S. The company’s launch fueled a “precut revolution” as more and more companies find the cost and labor efficiencies from outsourcing their precision cutting and joinery to specialists. Completed in 2014, the company’s award-winning construction facility, which was built with a glulam frame and cross laminated timber (CLT) wall and roof panels, offers an insight into how these materials can be used effectively in commercial and industrial structures.
Requirements: Plant tours are available only to BCMC component manufacturer attendees who are 18 years of age or older. Please note that open-toed shoes are not allowed. Eye protection will be provided.
